ALHAMDULILAHI MADISCO YAPIGWA MARUFUKU SIKU ZA IDDI NCHI Z;BAR

IN the on-going efforts to control moral-decay among youths, the Zanzibar Municipal Council (ZMC) has banned disco at all grounds set for the four days Eid-ul-Fitr celebration officially beginning on Wednesday.
Eid-ul-Fitr is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadhan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. And, according to the Tuesday Municipal statement, disco and gathering for music is strictly prohibited, warning that violators of the order will be punished.A number of people running petty business at ”Eid grounds” during the festival used to organise discos with many youths as their customers, but some politicians and parents have in recent days complained that the discos promotes social misconduct. The misconducts which are partly linked to discos and bars operations in residential areas include early involvement in reckless sex, disrespect to elders and use of drugs. Similar action of banning discos in venues for Eid celebrations have been taken by District Commissioners in their respective areas.
